Description
Quality control is an essential part of any manufacturing business. Taking a systematic approach to managing quality allows companies to assure their customers that the products shipped meet mutually agreed quality standards. Despite these benefits many companies find it challenging to overcome the many obstacles encountered when putting quality control to work on the shop-floor. One reason is that in a busy plant it is difficult to find the time for collecting data, performing statistical analysis and preparing quality reports.
Ei3 streamlines the process of measurement and provides tools to control quality with its Quality Management web application. This cloud application builds on a foundation of real time machine data collection and includes web pages for operators and quality personnel to visualize and understand the quality of a machine’s production – while a job is being run. Administrators are provided with the tools they need to define product specifications and related measurements to be captured. Data is captured automatically from machines using Ei3’s patented remote monitoring technology. Off line testing results are captured through web forms for operators and quality technicians. Powerful application servers running at Ei3’s data warehouses perform real statistical analysis and output alerts to machine operators. These alerts can include linked documents calling out Standard Operating Procedures, (SOP) for machine operators to take the appropriate actions. The quality results can be computed for machines, jobs or time-frames providing a lens to view the effectiveness of operations. Reports are available to show statistical results of tests and even Certificate of Analysis documents can be generated by Quality Management.
Here are some of the features of this powerful web application:

Once Quality Management has been set up, plant operations benefit from step-by-step guidance through the defined quality testing steps. Dashboards guide machine operators and quality control personnel. By using SPC methods the dashboard alerts operators when problems may be occurring, and provides standard operational procedures as linked SOP documents to guide corrective actions.[/2_column]

Six-Sigma black belts and quality assurance personnel use Quality Management to gain a deeper understanding of their process. Using a correlation tool, relationships are found between test results and machine parameters. Those that are important to product quality are monitored using real-time SPC methods and are displayed on the operator’s dashboard to help improve product yield.
